Evolution is a constant process of adapting to our surroundings, but as human beings we have more control over those surroundings than any other animal. So, as this blog evolves from one thing to the next it’s good to reflect on the two-way relationship we have with everything around us.
The places we live, the people we spend time with, the things we read and the stuff we own. They’re all products of the choices we make. We shape the things that shape us.
Sudden change is an attractive proposition. New Years resolutions, turning over a new leaf. Chuck it out. Start afresh. We’re impatient to become the people we want to be. But change is much more evolution than revolution. We have to grow in new directions, however long it takes.
By changing our context, the places, things and people around us, we can grow in any direction we choose. It isn’t about creating a transformation; it’s about creating the conditions for a transformation. Changing habits through the causes of habits.
This is the 100th post on The Minimal List. It seems like as good a time as any to evolve from what it was to what it is next. Over the next few months this site will become home to everything that makes up our change of context: life, work and learning. We hope you enjoy the transformation.
